• How to get your ABN promptly

21 September 2015 - To have your Australian business number (ABN) application processed quickly, it is essential you provide accurate details about your proposed entity.

Your identity also needs to be verified with the right documentation.

The proof of identity (POI) information you provide will be checked against other sources—for example, Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) records.

If the details do not match, the application may be delayed or in some cases refused.

To help you prepare, check what you need for your application so you can save time on your application and focus on setting up your business.

If you do not have the complete details required after having started the ABN application process, you can log back in and resume when you can provide the rest of the information.

You will have to start the process again if you do not submit all requirements before the application expiry date.
