Changes to ABN details
We are introducing a change to the Australian Business Register (ABR) so you can tell us more about your business activities. Events such as natural disasters and COVID-19 have highlighted the importance of capturing accurate business information to allow government agencies to give targeted assistance and support to businesses.
From late December 2021, you’ll be able to add 4 extra Australia and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) codes to your Australian business number (ABN) when you update your details. This is in addition to the main business activity that is currently captured. Your ABN will reflect the range of business activities you undertake.
For example, if you’re running a winery you may have ANZSIC or business industry codes for:
- Wine and Other Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturing (1214)
- Liquor Retailing (4123)
- Accommodation (4400)
- Cafes and Restaurants (4511).
We will let you know when the new feature becomes available.
