Setting up myID and RAM

To access government online services on behalf of the agency you need to set up your own myID.

You will then need to link your myID to the agency in RAM.

Find out how by selecting your role:

• Primary person - authorised contact
• Authorised users and administrators - someone who acts on behalf of the agency online.

Primary person

A primary person (type of principal authority) needs to establish the initial link to the agency in RAM.

For government agencies, this is an authorised contact listed against the Australian business number (ABN) in the Australian Business Register (ABR). If your agency has multiple authorised contacts, only one needs to link the ABN in RAM.

Once linked, you'll be authorised in RAM to act on behalf of the agency. Your authorisation type will display as a government representative. This authorisation is valid for up to 12 months. You'll receive emails, as well as a notification in RAM to renew your authorisation before it expires.

You can also set up authorisations for others.

It is your agency’s responsibility to maintain the integrity of your records. This is to ensure:

• people in your agency can quickly and easily identify a primary person or authorised administrator
• the correct people are authorised to access government online services.

Authorised users and administrators

If you’ve been authorised to act on behalf of an agency, you’ll receive an authorisation code via email. The code expires in seven days.

To accept the request, log into RAM with your myID and enter the authorisation code. Once accepted, you can access government online services on behalf of the agency.

If you're an authorisation administrator, you can also set up authorisations for others in the agency.
